Kinetic Art LA – Convergence of Art and Technology

I’ve long been a fan of kinetic art, which as the name implies is art that incorporates movement. I was therefore very excited to learn about a new exhibition set to open at Arena 1 this weekend. The show is entitled Kinetic Show LA and it’s curated by art duo Wendy Marvel and Mark Arnon Rosen of Mechanical FlipBook.

Knife Machine by Neil Mendoza

Oculus2 by Joshua Kirsch

What intrigues me the most about this exhibition is how it seeks to bridge the digital and analog realms. As I studied photographs of the artworks found on the Arena 1 site, I found myself drawn to the pieces – imagining how they move and wanting very much to experience them in person. I love when that happens.

If you are as fascinated by the artwork as I am, make a point of dropping by Arena 1 before the show closes in early October.

When: September 12 – October 3, 2015 / Gallery hours: Wed-Sat 12-6pm

Where: Arena 1, located at 3026 Airport Avenue Santa Monica, CA
