KCRW and the Annenberg Foundation Announce SOUND IN FOCUS

Summer in Los Angeles always presents me with a quandary. What to do on any given weekend given the vast number of options that I can choose from? While I often decide on the spur of the moment, basing my choice on friends’ availability, my previous commitments and how I happen to feel that particular day, there are those events that capture my attention early on and beg me to pencil them in my calendar. The latest collaboration between KCRW and the Annenberg Foundation, called Sound in Focus, is one such event.

Billed as “a free, all-ages concert series inspired by the “Emerging” exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography,” this event pairs different KCRW DJs with an eclectic lineup of musical talent from Los Angeles and beyond. Check out this line-up!

Performances

  • Saturday, July 25 – TV on the Radio + Boxed In with KCRW DJ Jason Bentley
  • Saturday, August 1 – De La Soul + Quantic (live) with KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad
  • Saturday, August 8 – Dwight Yoakam + X with KCRW DJ Anne Litt
  • Saturday, August 15 – Cold War Kids + Other Lives plus KCRW DJ Jason Bentley

While the music is sure to be fantastic on each of these nights, concertgoers can take in the many photographs that comprise the Emerging exhibition. According to the Annenberg Space for Photography’s web site, “the exhibit explores how a new generation of photographers examines a variety of topics, from the personal to the global: youth culture, family, the environment, economic uncertainty, conflict and civil unrest, and the nature of the photographic image.”
