\"The<\/p>\n

Early next year The Broad will open: \u201cJasper Johns: ‘Something Resembling Truth’<\/a>\u201d, a special exhibition featuring over 120 pieces of work created by one of the country\u2019s greatest living artists. Organized by the Royal Academy of Arts, London in collaboration with The Broad, the show will bring together six decades of Johns’ work, including drawings, sculptures, paintings and prints. The show will include works from private and public collections and be organized by thematic chapters. <\/p>\n

According to The Broad, \u201cThe exhibition encompasses the full range of Johns\u2019 materials, motifs and techniques\u2014including his unique use of encaustic (heated beeswax) and found-material collage in paintings\u2014and the innovations he has achieved in sculpture and the graphic arts by expanding the possibilities of traditional media.\u201d<\/p>\n

The last time a Los Angeles area museum organized a Jasper Johns exhibition was in 1965, when the Pasadena Museum of Art, under the stewardship of eccentric curator Walter Hopps, first shined a light on the artist\u2019s exceptional talent for an LA audience. As the Broad\u2019s director, Joanne Heyler, recently told the New York Times<\/a>, \u201c\u2026Johns has made a few things since then.\u201d Now you\u2019ll have an opportunity to see many of the 87 year old artist\u2019s most significant works under one roof.  <\/p>\n
