One arts organization doing particularly interesting work today in the Joshua Tree area is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.highdeserttestsites.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">High Desert Test Sites<\/a>, which explores &ldquo;&hellip;the intersections between contemporary art and life at large&rdquo;&nbsp;within physical and conceptual spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #262626;\">Later this month and again in May, High Desert Test Sites is sponsoring a tour of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zittel.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">A-Z West<\/a>, located on 35 acres in California&rsquo;s high desert next to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/jotr\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Joshua Tree National Park<\/a>.&nbsp;A-Z West is described as Andrea Zittel&#8217;s ever evolving &ldquo;&hellip;test site for designs for living, where&hellip;home furniture, clothing, and food all become the [focus] of investigation in an ongoing endeavor to better understand human nature and the social construction of needs.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #262626;\">Those fortunate enough to reserve a space for this event will tour the A-Z West house, studio, wagon station encampment, homestead cabin, regenerating field, and shipping container compound.\u2028 If you&rsquo;re looking for a unique way to experience the desert and see first hand how it has influenced one group of artists, this is it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"full-image-block ssNonEditable\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/cla\/legacy-images\/buildings\/A-ZWest_homeexterior.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1331504871768\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><span class=\"thumbnail-caption\" style=\"width: 410px;\">A-Z West. The group will depart for A-Z West from the HDTS HQ at 12 noon sharp.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations<\/strong>: Required 24 hours in advance &#8211; email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:info@highdeserttestsites.com\"><span style=\"color: #0d4de6;\">info@highdeserttestsites.com<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;to reserve your spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost<\/strong>: A cash donation of $45 for adults and $30 for students is payable the day of the tour.
