This rich celluloid history helps us understand what Los Angeles and its environs were like in decades past.<\/p>\n<p>Recently <em>The Atlantic<\/em> published a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/video\/archive\/2011\/09\/a-time-capsule-of-1940s-downtown-los-angeles\/244590\/\" target=\"_blank\">short piece<\/a> about some fascinating stock footage made available by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/details\/prelinger\" target=\"_blank\">Prelinger Archives<\/a> that gives us a glimpse of the Bunker Hill area post WWII. To learn more about Los Angeles locations during the early days of American cinema, I highly recommend you check out John Bengtson&#8217;s work on the subject.
