Home to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacma.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles County Museum of Art<\/a> (LACMA), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aplusd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Architecture+Design Museum<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafam.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Craft and Folk Art Museum<\/a>, as well as numerous galleries, visitors to this part of the city can easily spend many hours exploring the area&rsquo;s wealth of art venues.<\/p>\n<p>A fun way to really experience the diversity of this neighborhood&rsquo;s arts institutions and galleries is to participate in LACMA&rsquo;s annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacma.org\/membership\/MuseCalendar.aspx#aw\" target=\"_blank\">ArtWalk<\/a>. Co-sponsored by the Mid-City West Arts Council, this event features free access to the museums mentioned above, as well as to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tarpits.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Page Museum<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petersen.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Petersen Automotive Museum<\/a>, which are both in very close proximity to LACMA. Participants can also visit <span style=\"color: windowtext;\">fifteen participating galleries<\/span> up and down Wilshire and La Brea and a <span>wide range of artist projects<\/span>. A review of the event program reveals the ArtWalk&#8217;s diversity, as it plays host to painting, music, dance, readings, film, and conversation.<\/p>\n<p>Here are just a few of the highlights:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Vox Humana Project<\/span>: Live Mural Painting with LA Art Machine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Founded in January 2010 and based in L.A., <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laartmachine.com\/voxhumana\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vox Humana<\/a> is a program of carefully selected live art happenings and mural installations in the U.S. and abroad by celebrated street artists and muralists from around the world. Artists participating at ArtWalk 2011 include Mear One, Jamie Johnson, John Park, Hans Haverson, and more!
