Most everyone who lives, works or visits Los Angeles knows that creative endeavors make up a significant portion of the region\u2019s economic output, contribute to its vitality and shape its identity. In particular, the breadth and scale of LA\u2019s design talent is expansive and extraordinarily influential both nationally and internationally. \u00a0A case in point \u2013 LA\u2019s rich tradition of innovative residential architecture, which has helped shape new typologies of urban and suburban development through initiatives such as the Case Study Houses, sponsored by Arts & Architecture<\/em><\/a> magazine between 1945 and 1966.<\/p>\n

While the design economy is clearly important to greater Los Angeles, the region\u2019s vast scale and the distribution of creative talent across hundreds of square miles and five counties can make it challenging to get a handle on all that is happening here in design related fields. Enter the Los Angeles Design Festival<\/a>, an annual series of events that recognizes the region\u2019s rich design traditions, highlights local talent\u00a0and celebrates the city’s status as a global design capital.<\/p>\n

The festival encompasses \u201c\u2026all design disciplines practiced or appreciated in greater Los Angeles. These include Architecture, Interiors, Product, Fashion, Automobile, Information\/Communications and Entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here are just a few festival events that caught my eye. You\u2019ll find a complete list of activities here<\/a>. I highly recommend you spend a little time perusing\u00a0this site to find the\u00a0activities that are of interest to you.<\/p>\n
