Final Cut – Ladies & Gentlemen | A Captivating Found Footage Montage

I just watched the trailer for Final Cut – Ladies and Gentlemen and was blown away. Created by visionary Hungarian director György Pàlfi (Taxidermia), who calls the work a “recycled film,” it deftly melds together love scenes from over 450 classic films into a collage the celebrates the art of filmmaking.

Like Christian Marclay’s Gold Lion-winning piece, “The Clock,” this work is a feat of meticulous research and long hours of editing. While the concept is compelling, it could have been a real disaster in the wrong hands. Based on what I’ve seen, however, Pàlfi clearly has created a work that expertly pays homage to the 7th Art. I can’t wait to see the film in its entirety.
