When people think of revitalizing the LA River, using it as a venue for movie screenings doesn’t usually come to mind. But that’s exactly the sort of activity the LA River Revitalization Corporation (LARRC) seeks to promote as it raises funds for a LA River Bike-In Movie Theater.
If all goes according to plan, this pop-up film series will feature food, drinks and free movies projected on a river-adjacent building. In keeping with LARRC’s “…vision to build a cleaner, greener and more connected LA,” participants are encouraged to bike to the screenings (hence the name “Bike-In Movie Theater”), so they won’t need a car to enjoy the festivities.
To make the L.A. River Bike-In Movie Theater a reality and help raise awareness about one of the city’s most underutilized public resources, the LARRC has turned to Kickstarter, where it now seeks donations to fund this unique community-building activity. That’s where you come in. This film series will only happen if enough people step forward and help meet the funding goal. I therefore encourage you to visit Kickstarter and make a donation today.
