LA Light – Colin Rich’s Visual Tribute to the City of Angels

When executed well, time-lapse photography reveals the ebb and flow of life – the visual rhythms of human activities and the natural processes that continually unfold all around us. Colin Rich, a highly skilled local practitioner of this photographic technique and native Angeleno, has produced a mesmerizing time-lapse film that he calls LA Light.

Announcing the Curating Los Angeles Photo Galleries

Today marks the introduction of the Curating Los Angeles photo galleries. This collection of images, broken down by subject and location, presents my photographs taken in and around greater Los Angeles.

Initially you’ll find images of The Getty Center and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Over time, I will expand this section of the site to include many more photos of the region’s built environment, as well as pictures that capture the rich tapestry of life in Los Angeles.

Two New Photography Shows Open at the Getty

Today two exciting new photography exhibitions open at the Getty. The first, Portraits of Renown: Photography and the Cult of Celebrity, “surveys some of the visual strategies used by photographers to picture the famous from the 1840s to the year 2000” and draws images from the J. Paul Getty Museum’s extensive collection.

Month of Photography Los Angeles

This weekend the Lucie Foundation kicks off Month of Photography Los Angeles (MOPLA), which will present and promote the work of hundreds of photographers through unique programming and exhibitions. By partnering with local galleries and museums, as well as organizing its own events, MOPLA will celebrate the photographic image and seek to expose (no pun intended!) photography professionals, enthusiasts, emerging professionals and collectors to a wide range of techniques and artistic visions.
