Bach in the Subways Los Angeles

Many people in the United States are not exposed to classical music via recordings or live performances. As a result, interest in that genre of music has waned over the years and fewer young people are familiar with its rich traditions.

In response to this trend, a New York based cellist named Dale Henderson began frequent performances of the Bach Cello Suites in the subways of New York City – an effort he dubbed “Bach in the Subways.” That was in 2010. Since then, Henderson’s idea has grown into an international movement “…with thousands of musicians around the world offering Bach’s music freely to the public on Bach’s birthday.”

Bach in the Subways Los Angeles will take place in multiple venues around greater LA and feature a wide range of local talent. Come celebrate Johann Sebastian Bach’s 330th Birthday in subways, public spaces, and concerts open to everyone.
