LACMA Muse Concert Featuring Saint Motel and The Silent Comedy

Looking for a way to get a jump on the weekend? Did the July 4th holiday get you amped up for summer fun? Are the warm evenings that we’re experiencing across the Southland enticing you to get outdoors? If the answer to one or more of these questions is “yes,” the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has planned an event that is sure to please.

LACMA Muse, the museum’s premier membership group for art enthusiasts in their 20s, 30s and 40s, recently expanded its mission to celebrate art in all its forms by launching its own concert series to take place on the LACMA campus. Each concert will combine music with after-hours access to exhibitions, visual programming, and a limited-edition print by a local artist.

The inaugural show, scheduled for tomorrow night, spotlights the Los Angeles independent rock scene and will feature local bands Saint Motel and The Silent Comedy. Both will take the stage in front of Chris Burden’s Urban Light in a co-production with The Roxy Theater.

Not content to merely book bands to play live music at the museum, LACMA Muse organizers have planned an exciting, multifaceted evening that will see members of Saint Motel deliver dynamic projections to accompany the band’s performance. They have also arranged for live painter Mike Maxwell to join The Silent Comedy in a fusion of artistic vision and sound. As an added bonus, select guests will receive prints designed by LA artist Patrick Haemmerlein.
