MEPEACE Comes to Los Angeles

If you’re like me, you’ve been paying a lot of attention to the dramatic events unfolding throughout the Middle East. While there are many positive and hopeful signs that point to a better future for millions of people in that part of the world, the fact remains that significant hurdles must still be overcome to establish governments that work for the people, rather than against them, and for peace and understanding to become the norm between the nations and peoples of the region.

So what can you do here in the Los Angeles area to become directly engaged with other people who are working for positive change in the Middle East? One answer is an organization called MEPEACE, which is a network for peace designed to bring peacemakers from around the world together both virtually and on the ground to create a movement for peace.

I just learned about this organization from a good friend of mine, who invited me to attend an information session / fundraising event taking place this evening at the Levantine Cultural Center. If you’re interested in discovering what MEPEACE is all about and meeting the organization’s founder, plan on stopping by. Of course, if you can’t make it in person, you can always get actively involved online, since the organization harnesses the power of social networking technologies.
